.45 ACP WWII Model 1928A1 Thompson Submachine Gun
This is an exceptional example of an original WWII Model 1928A1 Thompson submachine gun that was manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Company. This weapon was originally manufactured as a late model 1928A1 under a US Government contract that was subsequently refurbished by the US Army after WWII. This specific weapon has been fitted with many of the later wartime features that are highly desirable. A 10 1/2 inch, non-finned barrel with ported "CUTTS" marked compensator on the end, the wartime horizontal forend, detachable buttstock and non-adjustable Lyman stamped "L" pattern rear sight. The receiver is marked with "US MODEL OF 1928 A1/NO. A.O. 108535" and further back "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE. The obverse is marked in two-lines "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT USA" The top of the receiver is marked with the "Thompson Bullet" logo and the underside of the lower trigger group.
