7.5 French Mas 36 Bolt Action Rifle
IN STOCK
French Model 1936 rifle, also known as the MAS-36. The MAS-36 was the standard military rifle for the French from 1936 to 1952. It was not produced during the German occupation in World War II. The MAS-36 has a unique bolt handle that is bent forward in a “dog leg” to make it more convenient for the soldier to operate. The gun was designed without a safety as French soldiers were expected to keep a loaded magazine in the rifle and only chamber a round when necessary. This bolt action rifle was made in 1939 or 1940, as evidenced by the script letter “K” preceding the serial number. From what this seller has read, rifles made after the war used block letters with the serial numbers. It is of the French 7.5x54 mm caliber and is loaded using a 5-round stripper clip. Overall length is 40.25". The barrel length is 22.5". The serial number on the bolt matches the serial number on the receiver. Rifle is in very good condition with paint coming off in parts of the metal, clean stock, and good bore. The rifle has a built-in spike bayonet stored in a tube under the barrel. The bayonet is in very good condition and, when reversed for use, locks securely into position.
