.450/400 2 3/8 Holland & Holland Royal Double Rifle. This Holland was made for Sir Heaton Rhodes of Otahuna Christchurch. It was Started in 1897 and finished in 1898. It is a Holland Royal No.2 Which is the same as its more expensive No.1 although with only border and minimal engraving. The upper tang extends onto the comb and the rifle is fitted with a "Stalking Safety" as well as the traditional safety with SAFE in gold. Bores are very good and despite being a black powder gun is both very accurate and light on recoil. It is cased in its original Holland case serial numbered to the gun with load details. In the case is various Cleaning Equipment, Purdey Silver Snap Caps, a full packet of .401 projectiles, an either Bone or Ivory Spare Firing Pin container with Spare Pins, Two Turnscrews and a Silver Oil Bottle. A lovely set for a very well known Canterbury figure. Also comes with five packets of original Holland & Holland Ammuntition As pictured in the case.
